Description
This crockpot beef brisket recipe is melt-in-your-mouth tender with bold, smoky Texas-style flavor. Made with a blend of spices, aromatics, and slow-cooked for hours, it’s perfect for Sunday dinner, holidays, or meal prep!
Ingredients
▢ 3–4 lb beef brisket (point-cut or flat-cut)
▢ 1 large onion, chopped
▢ 4 cloves garlic, minced
▢ 1 cup beef broth
▢ 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
▢ 2 teaspoons chili powder
▢ 1 teaspoon ground cumin
▢ ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
▢ 2 tablespoons brown sugar
▢ 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
▢ 2 bay leaves
▢ Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
1. Trim any large excess fat from the brisket. Pat dry and season both sides generously with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, chili powder, cumin, and cayenne.
2. Chop the onion and mince the garlic. Place both in the bottom of the slow cooker.
3. Place the brisket on top of the aromatics.
4. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Sprinkle brown sugar over the top and add bay leaves.
5. Cover and cook on LOW for 8–10 hours, until the brisket is fork-tender.
6. Carefully remove the brisket and let it rest under foil for 15 minutes.
7. Optional: Strain and simmer the cooking liquid on the stovetop or thicken with a cornstarch slurry for gravy.
8. Shred the brisket and serve with the gravy spooned over the top.
Notes
• For extra flavor, sear the brisket on all sides before adding to the crockpot.
• This reheats beautifully—great for sandwiches, tacos, or meal prep.
• Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
