Ingredients
▢ 1 can refrigerated biscuits
▢ 1 lb breakfast sausage
▢ 2 tablespoons butter
▢ 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
▢ 2 cups milk
▢ 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
▢ 5 large eggs
▢ 1 teaspoon onion powder
▢ 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
▢ Salt and black pepper, to taste
▢ 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned. Drain excess grease.
3. In the same skillet, melt butter. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
4. Gradually whisk in milk and cook until thickened (5–7 minutes).
5. Stir in half the cheddar cheese, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne (if using).
6. In a bowl, whisk eggs. Add sausage and gravy mixture, stir to combine.
7. Cut biscuits into small pieces and layer half in the dish.
8. Pour sausage-egg mixture over biscuits. Top with remaining biscuit pieces and cheese.
9. Bake 25–30 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
