Description
This Classic Campbell’s Green Bean Casserole is a timeless holiday side dish, made creamy and flavorful with mushroom soup, smoky spices, and a crispy topping of French-fried onions. It’s easy, comforting, and always a crowd-pleaser — with a little Texan twist!
Ingredients
2 cans (14.5 oz) green beans, drained (or use 4 cups fresh, trimmed)
1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
½ cup milk
1 teaspoon soy sauce
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
Pinch cayenne pepper (optional)
1 ½ cups French-fried onions, divided
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
2. In a large bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, smoked paprika, and cayenne (if using). Stir to mix well.
3. Add the green beans to the soup mixture and toss until fully coated.
4. Pour the green bean mixture into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle half of the French-fried onions over the top.
5. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until hot and bubbling.
6. Remove from oven, add remaining onions, and return to oven for another 5 minutes until golden and crispy.
7. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
Use fresh green beans for a slightly firmer texture.
Add sautéed mushrooms or shredded cheddar for an extra twist.
Great make-ahead side dish — just assemble and refrigerate, then bake when ready.
