Description
This Creamy Kielbasa Broccoli Skillet is a one-pan dinner packed with smoky sausage, tender broccoli, and cheesy pasta. Perfect for busy weeknights and picky eaters alike!
Ingredients
8 ounces penne pasta
2 cups fresh broccoli florets, quartered
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 ring (13.9 ounces) kielbasa, sliced into ¼-inch rounds
1 small yellow onion, finely diced
1 teaspoon garlic, minced
1 ½ cups whole milk
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 ½ cups shredded mild cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add penne pasta and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
2. During the last 3-4 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets to the pot.
3. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and broccoli. Set aside.
4. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add kielbasa and diced onion. Cook for about 5 minutes, until sausage is browned and onion softens.
5. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
6. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk and cornstarch until fully dissolved. Pour into skillet, stirring constantly.
7. Bring mixture to a boil and cook for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
8. Reduce heat to low and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until sauce is smooth.
9. Add cooked pasta and broccoli to the skillet. Toss gently until fully coated. Add reserved pasta water a little at a time if needed to thin the sauce.
10. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
Notes
This recipe works great with beef, turkey, or traditional kielbasa.
For extra veggies, add sliced zucchini or mushrooms.
To reheat leftovers, add a splash of milk to bring back the creaminess.
