Description

This Gordon Ramsay Beef Stroganoff is a rich and creamy comfort food classic, made with tender ribeye strips, mushrooms, and a sour cream sauce. Quick enough for weeknights, yet elegant enough for guests.

Ingredients

Scale

600g ribeye or scotch fillet – thinly sliced

2 tbsp vegetable oil – for searing

1 large onion, sliced – adds sweetness

300g mushrooms, sliced – earthy balance

40g butter – adds richness

2 tbsp plain flour – thickens the sauce

500ml beef broth – deepens flavor

1 tbsp Dijon mustard – for tang

150ml sour cream – creamy base

Salt and pepper – to taste

Pasta or egg noodles – for serving

Chopped chives – optional garnish

Instructions

1. Flatten and thinly slice the beef, then season with salt and pepper.

2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over high heat. Sear beef strips in batches for 30 seconds per side. Remove and set aside.

3. In the same pan, melt butter and sauté sliced onions for 1 minute.

4. Add mushrooms and cook until golden and their moisture evaporates.

5. Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir for 1 minute to cook out the raw taste.

6. Gradually pour in beef broth, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.

7. Stir in Dijon mustard and let the sauce simmer until thickened.

8. Remove from heat and gently stir in sour cream until fully incorporated.

9. Return seared beef and juices to the pan. Simmer gently for 1 more minute.

10. Serve hot over pasta or egg noodles. Garnish with chopped chives if desired.

Notes

For best results, don’t overcrowd the pan while searing the beef—cook in batches.

Want to make it vegetarian? Skip the beef and double the mushrooms for a delicious Mushroom Stroganoff.

Reheats well, but warm gently to prevent the sour cream from separating.
