Description
This Texas Roadhouse Butter Chicken Skillet is a creamy, cheesy, and bold-flavored weeknight dinner you can have ready in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts – cut into bite-sized pieces
3 tablespoons unsalted butter – divided
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon chili powder
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper – optional, for heat
Salt – to taste
Freshly ground black pepper – to taste
½ cup chicken broth
¼ cup heavy cream
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon fresh parsley – chopped
Optional: sliced green onions for garnish
Instructions
1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat.
2. Season chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
3. Add chicken to skillet and cook until golden and cooked through, about 6–8 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
4. Lower heat to medium. Add remaining tablespoon of butter.
5. Stir in chicken broth and heavy cream, scraping up any browned bits. Simmer 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
6. Return chicken to skillet and stir to coat with sauce.
7. Sprinkle cheddar cheese evenly on top, cover, and let melt for 2 minutes.
8. Garnish with chopped parsley and green onions, if desired. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread.
Notes
You can swap in pre-cooked chicken—just reduce the cook time slightly.
This recipe is great for picky eaters—cheesy, buttery, and packed with flavor.
Add more cayenne or a splash of hot sauce for extra heat.
